Your Role:

As a Technical Program Manager in Infrastructure/DevOps, you will lead an agile infrastructure team to work on strategic initiatives while handling daily operational needs. As such, you will be working at the intersection of Product Management and DevOps.


The Product Management team is responsible for executing product strategy, prioritizing and aligning roadmaps, and for researching and defining enhancements and upgrades to Global Relay services. They ensure our services solve important and urgent market problems.


The DevOps team is responsible for the reliability and smooth operation of production and test environments as well as develop automated systems, to improve reliability and efficiency of code delivery from build to production.


As a Technical Program Manager, you own the coordination of all activities related to internal projects at Global Relay. This can include the release of services to customers, internal operational projects, and other major initiatives. You are accountable for ensuring that there is a plan in place that adheres to Global Relay’s standards and that all activities and milestones are scheduled, agreed to by the team, executed in the agreed upon fashion, and consistent with Global Relay’s processes.


Your Job:


Working in a dynamic team environment, you will be responsible for:


  • In collaboration with senior management, developing and owning the project vision, strategy, execution, and roadmap for your team
  • Creating and managing requirements & project scope
  • Defining epics and user stories in partnership with your teams
  • Collaborating with architects, engineering, and your product team to break down large business requirements into smaller iterations, ensuring business value with each release
  • Facilitating key conversations, and managing dependencies with cross-functional partners to deliver on projects
  • Tracking and communicating the real state of project initiatives
  • Maintaining the project schedule including milestone dates and timelines for deliverables and release activities
  • Lead role in the continuous inspect and adapt cycles to help your team deliver software, fast, and reliably on a continuous basis
  • Ensuring all project dependencies are communicated, managed, and met
  • Staying accountable for highlighting issues and risks to a project and actively working within/across teams to create a common understanding of how issues and risks will be addressed


About You:


  • 4-6 years of experience managing intermediate technical projects in an agile development, or operations environment
  • Knowledge of system administration, server management, production monitoring, CI/CD tooling, Kubernetes, DevOps tools, test automation, and capacity planning
  • Post-secondary education (minimum of an undergraduate degree is preferred) or equivalent experience
  • Good technical understanding of software development, integration aspects, and deployment processes
  • Ability to understand technical as well as business requirements and accurately capture technical notes and use them to update work tickets
  • Adaptability to working with multiple teams on projects with varying degrees of flexibility/rigidity at different points in the development cycle
  • Demonstrates a history of being able to work effectively with groups who have different levels of technical and process experience
  • Ability to coordinate multiple inter-related projects
  • Possesses strong written, verbal, and inter-personal communication skills
  • Strong change management skills
  • Highly detail oriented
  • Systems level thinking
  • Agile certifications such as Product Owner (CSPO) and/or Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) is desirable
