Your Role:

Global Relay is looking for a Network Security Architect - L3 to join our growing IT Infrastructure team. You will assist the network Team Lead and Architect in engineering, long-term strategies, planning, integration, and deployments pertaining to network security.


Along with the network team, you will work closely with all members of the IT Operations team to continuously design, evolve, build, and ensure the integration, manageability, and security of highly available systems and applications. Working closely with other teams, you will ensure that the current and future Global Relay’s network security design integrate with other technologies such as storage, virtualization, containerization, and any and all systems and services. As a Network Security Architect, you will work closely with the CSOC team to ensure our network security infrastructure always meet their mandated security policies.


Your Job:


  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement network security technologies to ensure the highest level of availability, scalability and performance of Global Relay networks, firewalls and applications
  • Evaluate, identify and implement safeguards to the network infrastructure designed to minimize potential risks to Global Relay’s business interests
  • Utilize ‘Systems Thinking’ to understand interdependencies both within the Network Security and Infrastructure, and throughout Global Relay’s interests
  • Work closely with Operations and Development teams to identify, troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct system related issues as they arise
  • Participate in formulating and implementing innovative techniques for achieving and maintaining a high level of client satisfaction in conjunction with organizational effectiveness
  • Collaborate with Operations and Development teams to identify opportunities for improved service, efficiency, security, and resiliency
  • Provide leadership in strategic planning initiatives as well as selection, installation, operationalizing, and ongoing support of infrastructure enhancements
  • Participate and support change management activities
  • Provide support to business users and key stakeholders as needed
  • Participate in and offer guidance toward the creation of documentation including: Runbooks, how-to user guides & technical how-to support guides, and Method of Procedures (MoP)
  • Support and evolve the monitoring and reviewing of system dashboards and critical alerts to ensure system issues are identified, escalated, and addressed as quickly as possible
  • Identify, evaluate and make recommendations on opportunities for the implementation of automation
  • Responsible for project coordination for assigned projects or large scale initiatives
  • Provide Tier 3/Engineering support for all Systems Administration, escalated incidents or problem related items
  • Utilize acquired knowledge to balance user requirements, available resources, organizational goals and objectives while striving to maintain top quality client service
  • Define and present business cases for approval
  • Define and execute network related project plans


About You:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant software/computer related fields and a security certification (CISSP, CCSP, CISM, etc)
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in a Network Security Architect capacity
  • Extensive experience with complex enterprise network security architecture planning, design, and implementation
  • Extensive experience in managing and designing different types of firewalls (hardware, software, distributed)
  • Extensive experience in engineering, architecting, and provisioning of Perimeter Security, IPS, IDS, Web Access Security Gateways, Advanced Threat Protection systems and services
  • Extensive knowledge of Data Center micro-segmentation security architecture and zero-trust security model
  • Extensive knowledge of cloud networking and associated security requirements for cloud configurations
  • Extensive knowledge of network and security protocols including IPSEC/SSL VPN’s, GRE, NAT, ACL, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VXLAN, SD-WAN etc
  • Extensive experience with troubleshooting & resolving complex technical problems, management reporting, and documentation (how-to, processes and procedures, MoP)
  • Proven ability to self-manage and balance assigned work meeting deliverables as scheduled
  • Extensive experience with OpenSource software and/or service management tools and applications (OpenStack, OpenShift, Zabbix, JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, etc)
  • Extensive experience with implementing and leveraging automation in the delivery of system administration responsibilities
  • Adaptability to work with multiple teams on projects with varying degrees of flexibility/rigidity at different points in the development cycle
  • In-depth experience working in an environment with formally structured IT Operational processes, such as work request ticket management, incident management, change management, problem management, etc
  • Ability to take on internal operational initiatives as the owner and coordinator for projects or large scale items
  • ITSM Framework certifications such as ITIL, Sigma, SIAM or Methodology certifications such as Agile, Scrum, DevOps are considered a definite asset
  • Must be available after hours and/or weekends for emergency related work, service impacting incident resolution, or maintenance that is required during maintenance windows (outside of regular business hours)
