Your Role:

Reporting to the Controller, the Manager, Accounting Operations will have a leading role on the Accounting team overseeing a diverse scope of responsibilities. You will be responsible for the management of the company’s global accounts payable, payroll, and treasury functions. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the operational efficiency of Global Relay’s finance functions, often coordinating cross-functionally within the organization as well as with external parties. You will be a key team member alongside other members of the management team in developing new processes required for the Accounting team to service the demands of a fast growing, dynamic organization at an international scale.


Your Job:


  • Responsible for the accounts payable and procurement function, ensuring payments are approved and paid on a timely and accurate basis
  • Review of accounts payable ledgers, working papers and ownership over the monthly expense budget-to-actuals and related KPIs
  • Audit and review employee expense reports
  • Review payroll globally and provide support to the Payroll team while working with the Human Resources team to continuously streamline and improve payroll processes
  • Ensure all payroll and benefit deadlines and reporting/payroll tax submissions are completed on a timely basis
  • Assist Human Resources related to payroll and compensation analyses and benefit renewals, communication to staff, and other requests, as necessary
  • Responsible for day-to-day cash management including foreign exchange transactions and corporate credit card administration and management
  • Responsible for the timely review and approval of purchase orders and capital asset purchases in adherence with internal purchasing policies and forecasts/budgets
  • Work with tax consultants, development managers and the tax team to provide required information and calculations for the Scientific Research and Experimental Development and UK Research and Development Expenditure Credit filings
  • Oversee and prepare budgets and forecasts, working with the Building Manager, for real estate operations
  • Compile and prepare information requests from management, customers, auditors, regulatory authorities and other government agencies
  • Mentor, train and develop your team, as the company grows while sharing best practices with the Accounting team


About You:


  • Qualified professional accountant (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) with strong work ethics and integrity
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting and finance in a role of similar level of responsibilities
  • Experience in full cycle accounting in the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) subscription billing environment is an asset
  • Advanced level MS Excel proficiency, with intermediate to advanced knowledge of Word and PowerPoint
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and time-manage
  • Impeccable accuracy with numbers and attention to detail
  • Excellent telephone etiquette and ability to write clear, concise, and formal business communications
  • Clear understanding of financial KPIs for SaaS businesses
  • Experience in managing people and financial operations
  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion and to be entrusted with confidential information
  • Familiarity with the Salesforce CRM system and cloud-based accounting applications
  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to apply cognitive thinking is a must
  • Ability to thrive in a fast moving, fast growth entrepreneurial environment, have a ‘solution based’ mind set, and be proactive in driving improvements to processes and systems
  • Able to work hours as necessary to complete job requirements
